The Professional Drum Shop was founded in 1959 by Bob Yeager with Chuck Molinari in an effort to provide the professional drummer with a place to get needed equipment repairs and shopping convenience. The Pro drum Shop continues to be a spot where today's professional drummers shop and go to when they are looking for advice on professional gear. They offer complete drum repairs and modifications and carry replacement and hard to find parts to make sure that your drums play the way you want them to. As Pro drum says " If we can't fix it, it's not broken!"
Pro Drum is firmly committed to meeting the special needs of its customers. Everyone is treated alike here, no matter if you're a top name drummer or just someone who plays for fun. They are still one family owned and co-owners Stan and Jerry Keyawa believe in service, integrity, and quality and they deliver as promised.
One of the most sought after drummers today, Keith Carlock will be hitting the road on a 13-city US clinic tour in April and May of 2012. Keith has been the driving force behind artists such as Steely Dan, James Taylor, Sting, John Mayer, The Blues Brothers, Wayne Krantz, and many others. His distinctive sound and unique approach have set him apart from other players of his generation. Since arriving on the music scene in the late 90s, Keith has topped several reader’s polls including #1 Pop, #1 Fusion and #1 All-Around in the 2009 Modern Drummer Readers’ Polls. Other career highlights include appearances at the 2008 Zildjian Drummers Achievement Award Tribute to Ginger Baker in London and the 2011 Percussive Arts Society International Convention (PASIC).
The 13-city tour commences on April 17th in Los Angeles, CA and finishes May 3rd in Boston, MA. As with other Zildjian clinic tours, each dealer will host a Zildjian Sales Event with special deals and pricing on Zildjian products specifically tailored to the clinic. In addition, Zildjian will run special promotions at the dealer locations as well as contests on Zildjian.com and Facebook. Drummers may win Keith’s new Vic Firth Signature Series Drumsticks, Zildjian Gear, or a ZIldjian Cymbal personally signed by the drummer.
According to John DeChristopher, Zildjian’s Vice President, Artist Relations & Event Marketing Worldwide, “We’re excited to bring Keith out on a US clinic tour. Judging by the positive response from our dealers and drummers, the clinics are sure to be a big success.

Here at Percussion Partners we just received our first sample from the Zildjian 2011 Rarities Collection- the 19” K Dark Thin Ride and we couldn’t be more pleased. This years limited offerings should be part of every serious cymbal lovers collection.
The K Dark Thin models have a lot of flexibility and are rolled EXTRA THIN and extensively Hammered to give you that distinctive VINTAGE K sound. The featured kit is a custom USA made 3 ply (maple-poplar-maple) kit includes a 16x22" inch bass drum, 9x13" tom, 16x16" floor tom and 6.5x14" snare drum with Millenium strainer. This classically configured Ludwig Legacy kit includes and additional ply of Natural Mahogany Burst finished BLACK LIMBA (vertical grain) and is outfitted with large classic lugs, classic curved spurs Keystone Badges and classic floor tom brackets.

It may say Zildjian .... It may say HiDefinition Ride... but each of the four identically named cymbals in this short video have their own distinct personality. They are all manufactured to the highest quality standards, but by the very nature of the production process, each of these “cast” Zildjian cymbal will have a unique sound and personality all of it's own.
All four of these Zildjian Hi- definition Rides that were inspired with input from Terri Lynn Carrignton were pulled right out of the cymbals bins at Professional Drum Shop in Hollywood,CA and are demonstrated by Stan Keyawa of Pro Drum .
You may hear a few more highs or a tad less of the lows. You may feel that the “wash” fills the air with just enough sustain or that the stick definition may have just the right amount of articulation that you were looking for. Some drummers may talk in terms like "DRY" ,DARK" ,"Complex", "FAST" or use other metaphors to describe the ideal sound that they are looking for. You may not know how to explain it, but you know the cymbal of your dreams when you hear it! This is why it is important for you to play the cymbal or have someone else play it for you so that you can grab it and take it with you when you hear "YOUR" sound.
Just like Tony Williams, Elvin Jones, SteveGadd, or Terri Lynn Carrington, with the right cymbal and an identifiable,personalized technique, you too can create a signature cymbal sound that is all your own.
The video, “Professional Drum Shop 50 years”, tells the story of real professional drummers creating a real PROFESSIONAL DRUM SHOP in Hollywood, California back in 1959. This was no accident, since it just happened to be located across the street from the MUSICIANS UNION LOCAL 47. Nearly every drummer of renown has passed through Professional Drum Shop's doors over the last 50 years, leaving a lasting impression, which is in evidence in the store today.

The store is plastered with images of the drummers who have made a contribution to our drumming community. Some names are burnt in the minds of every drummer, others names may be known only to a few. But all these drummers have meant something to Pro Drum. All have made a contribution to our craft in some way and Professional Drum Shop continues to honor them.
Some pictures have been personalized with signatures and sentiments that are heartfelt, while other have be taken from manufacturer catalogs and historical flyers. If you are a drum enthusiast, you can't help but be moved after viewing one of the photo-covered walls of fame. Who are these drummers? When were these photos taken? What is their life and drumming story? The walls may not literally talk, but ask Stan or Jerry about them, and I'm sure that they will have a great story to tell you.
So how many pictures line the walls? That may be a question for a future contest giveaway. Go in and see for yourself.
